The free surgical medical outreach program , a partnership program between the West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and Kebbi State Government which had commenced on 9th of February, 2020 targetting 200 patients has finally ended on Saturday, 15th of February, 2020 with 95 percent coverage success.
The Kebbi State Commissioner of Health Hon. Ja’afar Mohammed Zuru made the disclosure at a brief closing ceremony to wrap up the program at the Kebbi Medical Center, Kalgo on Saturday,15/2/2020. He noted that two hundred and ninety five (295) patients have been treated successfully and were receiving medications at their various domains.
He thanked the State Government under the leadership of Senetor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his concern and fiancial support towards providing free healthcare to people of the state.
The Commissioner also commended the surgeons from WACS for considering Kebbi State as one of their areas for service to humanity.
Speaking earlier, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu who was represented by the Special Adviser on (Women) to the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiys Zahra’u Atiku Wali said the exercise has recorded significant impact especially on the lower class of people who cannot afford to pay the bills of their different operations.
She thanked the Wife of the Governor, Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu for her tremendous effort in ensuring that the West African College of Surgeons (WACS) carry out the program in Kebbi State.
In his address, the Director Medical Services, Kebbi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Shehu Mohammed Koko commended all the Medical team for their tireless effort in making the exercise a successful one.
The medical partnership program between the West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and Kebbi State Government among other objectives had provided an opportunity to inspire the young people of Kebbi State to be more professional and provided also an opportunity
to patients who could otherwise afford money for surgery to get the free Services.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology : 42
General & Padeatric Surgery : 77
Plastic Surgery : 10
Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery : 14 Maxillofacial Surgery : 7
Urology Surgery : 6
Dental Surgery : 74
Opthalmology : 65
Grand Total. : 295
