MEDICAID CANCER FOUNDATION CARRIES OUT NOVEMBER PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS IN ZURU

20 November 2020 / By Olubayo Paul

On Wednesday 18/11/2020, the Medicaid Cancer Foundation awareness outreach team advanced to Zuru local government in line with the November prostate cancer awareness campaign to deliver lectures. The foundation’s November “Do it for him” campaign is sponsored by Johnson and Johnson.

Movember is an annual event during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide. By encouraging men to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnostics and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.

Following the October Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness, Medicaid Cancer Foundation has keyed into the campaign to engage as many men as possible in raising awareness of prostate cancer.

At the venue in Zuru, Dr Abdulrahman delivered talks on prevention, symptoms, screening and treatments for cervical cancer while Haj Hadiza Kola talked about cervical cancer to the women present.

The team engaged the men and women in a question and answer session after which the participants received palliative food and relief items.

In a related development, the team paid a visit to an orphanage house to deliver money, food and cosmetic items sent to the house by their mother Dr Bagudu, along with her prayers for the children and their carers.

The First lady of Kebbi state H.E Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu who is the founder and CEO of the Medicaid Cancer foundation also doubles as a Director at the board of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)
