FIRST LADY OF KEBBI STATE PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS TO CREATE AWARENESS ON GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Her excellency Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu has pledged support and that of the His Excellency the Governor to the delegation of National Human Rights Commisison in Birnin Kebbi today.

The commision ES, Dr Tony Ojukwu represented by the Kebbi coordinator Mallam Hamza Attahiru stated the nation wide walk was to garner support for domestication of laws to protect women and children against gender violence and rape, currently on the increase.

Representing HE Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women and Social Development, Hon Zahrau Wali. She
expressed her concerns over the rising number of cases of rape in this period of the covid19 pandemic.

Hon Zahrau said Kebbi state under the leadership of Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is committed to domesticating laws that will put an end to rape and sexual violence in the state.

She ended by assuring the delegation of the first lady’s total support and that of The Governor.

Mr Hamza thanked the first lady for her audience despite the short notice and her continued service to humanity.
