DR ZAINAB SHINKAFI-BAGUDU DISTRIBUTES INSECTICIDE TREATED MOSQUITO NETS, BIRTH KITS TO WOMEN IN SHANGA; ENCOURAGES ANTENATAL ATTENDANCE

In line with her role as “Net Champion” of Kebbi state and her continued commitment to reduce maternal and child mortality, on Saturday 27:02:2021, H.E Dr Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, visited Tungar Giwa Primary Health Center, Shanga LGA, Kebbi state. She met with nursing mothers and pregnant women and encouraged them to use nets as a malaria prevention method and also attend hospital for delivery and antenatal care.

 

The Chairman Shanga LGA Alhaji Aminu Arzika welcomed the entourage and thanked Her Excellency for always executing laudable programs in Shanga.

Speaking at the venue, Dr Bagudu called on women to be prompt and regular with prenatal and postnatal attendance. She said by so doing, they and their babies will thrive in good health. She emphasized the need for them to form the habit of seeking proper medical advice whenever the need arises. In turn, she urged health care workers to be kind and treat women with dignity.

Similarly, Dr Zainab Bagudu called on traditional leaders and women leaders to lend their voices in the effort in educating women always. She noted not all the women wore face masks to reduce COVID19 transmission despite education and constant reminders.

Dr Bagudu also directed the women to make use of the materials she distributed judiciously. Items include Insecticide-treated mosquito nets, birth kits, soap and wrappers.

Earlier, a member of Medicaid cancer foundation, Mukhtasar Alkali, spoke to the women on cervical and breast cancer charging them to be aware of signs of the cancers and report to a health personnel. A reminder to abide by the Covid 19 safety protocols was also given.

In an appreciative response, representative of the traditional leaders, Hakimi Abdullahi Labbo and the wife of the Shanga local government Chairman, Hajiya Jamila Aminu Arzika took turns to thank the Wife of the Governor for the initiative that would ensure good health among women and children. They assured her of their commitment to the cause as a way to influence a positive change in the healthcare indices of the state.
