Medicaid Cancer Foundation took its breast and cervical cancer awareness to 200 women from across Fakai LGA of Kebbi state in the headquarters Mahuta.
The State Coordinator, Mr Muhammad Shuaibu explained the purpose of the outreach was to inform and sensitize the women about the dreaded cancers which are the commonest in women. He also stated that the foundation has sensitized/screened 2000 women and students from October to date.
The outreach team demonstrated techniques on how to perform a self breast examination. They also stressed the need to consult a medical doctor at the instance of detecting any abnormal sign/symptom like lumps.
Wife of Fakai LGA chairman Haj Suwaiba Jarma who coordinated the program thanked all the participants and facilitators. She told the women to count on Medicaid for assistance not to hide any such conditions as early detection saves lives.
Participants were offered Medicaid gift packages consisting of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, clothes, and hygiene items.
