COVID-19: Bagudu lauds Wife, CBOs, CSOs in taming pandemic

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu,on Monday,in Birnin Kebbi,
commended the invaluable efforts of his Wife, Dr Zainab Bagudu, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), and Civil Society Organizations ( CSOs), in taming the raging global Coronavirus Disease ( COVID-19), Pandemic.

According to the Governor, the ingenuity of his Wife, to meaningfully engage the Organizations,to undertake statewide grassroots sensitization of the populace , cannot, but, be hugely appreciated.

” The State government and myself, in person, truly and profoudly appreciate and cherish these laudable efforts that have really helped to mitigate the impact of the pandemic,” he added.

Bagudu spoke at the presentation of the Report of the Community-Based Organizations, CBOs and Civil Society Organizations, CSOs engaged in sensitizing the public on Covid -19 Prevention in the state.

The Kebbi State Governor also expressed delight that, with the bold and ingenious move of Dr Bagudu, coupled with the resilience and commitment of the groups, the impact and severity of the pandemic were drastically reduced in the state .

Bagudu, again asserted that, good governance and Services delivery would always be facilitated when these useful groups meaningfully and mutually engage the Government,rather than, watching and presuming from afar.

Bagudu restated the commitment of his administration, to sustain the existing happy tempo, for the benefit of all the citizens of the state .

He also acknowledged the untiring efforts of Dr Zainab Bagudu in all spheres of human lives, especially health, and urged her not to relent.

He believed that preventive care as in the case of Covid 19 remained the best option in healthcare services.

” Kebbi is laying emphasis on preventive care in revolutionizing the health sector towards achieving the goals of quality healthcare delivery.

‘ Some nation’s have perfected their health system with little resources by placing premium on preventive care’, he emphasized.

Bagudu once again commended all the organizations involved in the fight against Covid -19, pledging commitment of government to partnering with them.

The governor directed the Commissioner of Health and his team to identify areas of need for extra budgetary provision to seek the ratification of the State Assembly.

Presenting the Report earlier, the Team Leader, Nasiru Karofi, recalled that, the Group was formed sequel to the concern of Dr Zainab Bagudu in the advent of the Pandemic.

He said that, the report was a conglomeration of their works across the state ,in the last six months .

He presented a graphic report to the governor on their performance which recorded significant success among rural communities on protection against Covid-19.

He said they have covered more than 700 communities and reached more than 30,000 people with Risk communication information.

Karofi was full of praises to Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, the wife of the governor who initiated the program aimed at reversing the misconception of Covid 19 among the people especially the rural communities.

Others who made contributions during the session were the Executive Secretary, Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Abubakar Attahiru Kaoje, representative of UNICEF and members of the the different CBOs and CSOs that formed the coalition.

In his introduction remarks, the Commissioner of Health, Jafar Muhammad acknowledged the effort of the CBOs and CSOs in their enlightenment campaign at the local government level.

He announced that the Ministry was ready to provide additional facemasks, soap for hand washing and sanitizers for distribution to people at the grassroots level towards curtailing and preventing the spread of the pandemic.
