NANS lauds Bagudu on education, service delivery to people

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has lauded the invaluable efforts of Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, for according priority attention to the education sector.

Bagudu was also commended by the association for his focus on delivering efficient services to the people of the state since he assumed mantle of leadership in 2015.

The Deputy Coordinator of NANS, Zone A, Muhammed Adamu Kichinga, along with top officials of the Kebbi State chapter, made the commendation at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday while on a Courtesy Visit to Governor Bagudu, to commemorate Nigeria’s Diamond Independence Anniversary Celebrations .

According to Kichinga, the visit was not only to join the governor in celebrating Nigeria’s Independence anniversary, but to also commiserate with the government and good people of the state over the flood disaster which has devastated farmlands, crops and infrastructure belonging to government and individuals.

” The great Nigerian Students are here today to celebrate our Independence and also sympathise with government and people of the state, especially farmers who have incurred monumental loss of their farmlands and crops.

‘ This is indeed very sad for a state spearheading food production in Nigeria with a dogged and resilient governor like Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu .”

He acknowledged the resilience and courage of governor Bagudu in the fight against the dreaded Covid -19 in the state, as well as his tenacity in promoting the socio economic development of Kebbi State.

While enumerating the invaluable support to students of the state by Bagudu to promote their studies and by extension, the education sector, he commended the governor for being the first to implement the N30,000 minimum wage to workers in the state.

He averred : ” Service to humanity is service to God, if done with clear intention.On behalf of thousands of students in diaspora and at home, we want to say a big thank you for your consistency and fatherly support over the last four years to students in the state .

” Students of Kebbi have never had it so good than now during the good tenure of Bagudu.We want to thank him for the payment of NECO,WAEC and NAPTEP examination fees for secondary schools’ students.

” There are other myriad of achievements and gestures in terms of policies and programs, for the development of education.

” The payment of tuition fees for tertiary students, renovation of some secondary and tertiary institutions across the state, upgrading of school of Nursing Birnin Kebbi, School of Health Technology, Jega and that of Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu, as well as the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture in Zuru.

“All these giant strides, he said, would in the short and long term, provide the state with the much desired human resources.

Also speaking, the President, National Union of Kebbi State Students, Abbas Zaki,while thanking the Kebbi state government for the payment of scholarship to students, also requested the government to come out with a good policy on transport and accomodation for the students.

Earlier, the students’ union has also solicited for an 18- seater bus, to address its logistics needs.

Responding, the Kebbi State Governor, represented by his Deputy, rtd Col Samaila Yombe Dabai, thanked the Students’ union for acknowledging the giant strides of Bagudu’s administration in according greater attention to education and service delivery to people of the state.

He commended the students for believing in the unity of Nigeria and advised them to be God fearing, law abiding and shun the obnoxious act of cultism in its entirety.

‘ I want to sincerely thank you for acknowledging what the government is doing to promote education and the efforts to better the lot of people in the state.

‘ Please remain good ambassadors of this country, I assure you , we will not be deterred in our resolve and unwavering commitment,” he assured.

He finally assured the students that he would relay all their requests to the governor, for prompt action.

The Chief of Staff Government House, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu (Jarman Kabi), the SSG, Babale Umar Yauri , Alhaji Hassan Muhammad Shalla , Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Chairman Kebbi State Housing Corporation, Arch Hamza Abubakar Musa attended the event.
