Two repentant insurgents of Kebbi state origin who have undergone deradicalisation are now back to normal life after reintegration into the society.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, this Monday in Birnin Kebbi handed them over to the representative of the Emir of Gwandu who in turn presented them to representatives of their District Heads to be reunited with their families.
Alhaji Babale Umar commended the repentant insurgents for accepting to be of good conduct and thanked the Armed Forces, Police and other Security Agencies for their sacrifice to bringing the nation to normality and security.
The Secretary to the Government said the State Government would provide them with financial assistance and starter-pack to engaging in profitable ventures, saying that similar gesture would be extended to others who chose to repent and be of good behaviour.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, retired Major Garba Rabi’u Kamba, said the two former insurgents were among batch-four of repentant members who received training at Federal facility in Gombe on deradicalisation for rehabilitation and integration into the lager society.
He added that Kebbi state government has decided to bear the cost of rehabilitating and providing them with economic empowerment.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Agunbiade Oluyemi Fasore, said the movement and activities of the two repentant persons would be monitored to ensuring conformity with security regulations.
