Gov Bagudu hails President Buhari”s initiative for taking 100m Nigerians out of poverty

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has lauded the initiative by President Muhammadu Buhari to remove over 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

The governor while commending the president during the disbursement of micro loans to 1,500 women and youths in Kebbi State by the National Directorate of Employment ( NDE) on Monday at the Emir’s palace in Argungu said the foresight and imagination of the Director General of NDE, Dr.Nasir Ladan Argungu was responsible for bringing the loan package to women and Youths in the state.

 

 

 

This he said was an extension of President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts in alleviating poverty amongst people in the country.

He said ” It is an extension of the support package that President Muhammadu Buhari has authorised NDE to be given across the nation”.

He added that over the years Kebbi has keyed into various initiatives of PMB aimed at addressing poverty in the country saying that the state has benefitted immensely especially in the agricultural sector and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He said the initiative has also afforded the influx of investors as well as establishment of companies in Kebbi State while commending Buhari for making key appointments from indigenes of Kebbi State.

The governor, congratulated the Director General of NDE, Dr. Nasir Ladan Argungu for the success of the program while also commending his good leadership in facilitating the disbursement of the soft loan to women and youths in the state.

Bagudu enjoined women and youths beneficiaries of the soft loan to make best use of it to boost their businesses.

He commended the Emir of Argungu , Alhaji Ismaila Muhammadu Mera and all the Argungu international fishing festival committee members for their efforts in mobilising people to attend the festival.

He announced the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari on agricultural fare in Argungu during the festival.

The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo who was represented by the Director General of NDE, Dr. Nasir Mohammed Ladan Argungu charged the beneficiaries to utilize the soft loan for the purpose of which it was meant.

The Special Guest of honour, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) described the gesture as part of federal government effort to better the lives of people especially women and youths. He said the disbursement of the soft loan would have multiplier effect on the beneficiaries.

Earlier, the DG of NDE Dr. Ladan Arguungu said 1,500 women and youths in the state would receive N10,000 each to boost their businesses and called on them to payback for others to benefit.

He said apart from the loan empowerment, 52 new brand sewing, welding, plumbing, cosmetic and knitting machines are available at the vocational centre in Argungu with a 36 seater bus that would be conveying the trainees to the centre for training.

The DG also announced the donation of 10,000 exercise books and learning materials to schools in Argungu communities to improve learning in the schools.

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammed Mera commended the Federal Government for the gesture, he thanked the DG as an indigine of the emirate for the establishment of the skill acquisition center in the area which according to him would in no small measure benefit women and youths.

The monarch confered the traditional title of ” Gado da Masun Kabi ‘ on the Director General of NDE in view of his numerous effort, contributions and for bringing development to the area.

The emir appealed to the beneficiaries to take advantage of the coming Argungu Fishing Festival to make profits and lift themselves out of poverty “” The soft loan at this period would lead to multiplier effect for the beneficiaries, if they manage it well , the N10,000 naira will multiply into hundreds of naira for them ” he said.
